We encourage municipalities to register for the European Week of Regions and Cities, which will take place on October 7-10 in Brussels
The event aims to promote balanced economic, social and territorial development within the European Union and the implementation of the Green and Digital Transition on the ground. Last year, 7,000 participants from the EU took part in the event.
The event is organized by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional Development (DG Regio), which is a kind of ministry for regional development in the EU.
So, the European Week of Regions and Cities is generally an event where you can:
- find out how Europe, and especially cities, are living today;
- find a partner for a European project - from Interreg projects to thematic programs;
- learn about the most relevant project calls and new programs firsthand;
- plan a dozen useful meetings "on the margins" that meet your needs and desires, because literally the whole of Europe comes to this event.
The European Week of Regions and Cities 2024 will take place on October 7-10 in Brussels. The program of the event has already been published on the website. A significant part of the program is devoted to topics relevant to Europe:
- stimulating the energy transition (transition from fossil fuels to alternative fuels) and decarbonization;
- participatory approaches to solving local development problems;
- implementation of innovative solutions on the ground;
- overcoming the outflow of labor resources from rural areas and small towns;
- creation of Functional Areas or metropolitan areas;
Also, compared to previous years, the program pays considerable attention to building local resilience to possible crises.
In addition, participants will be able to learn about current programs and project competitions in various formats, whether at stands or thematic workshops. For example, the European agency CINEA, which manages the so-called Green Deal programs, will talk about the results of the Horizon and Life projects and announce new competitions that will start in the fall.
