Visit of two "Schools of Energy" in Zaporizhzhya
On Monday, 28 March 2016, Kilian Schubert, Project Manager of the “School of Energy” at the Association “Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine” (EECU), visited two project schools in Zaporizhzhya, namely the “Dzherelo” boarding school and the 20th School of the city.
The visit was organized by representatives of the City and the Oblast of Zaporizhzhya, namely директор департаменту освіти і науки Запорізької ОДА Тетяна Озерова and начальник відділу енергоменеджменту м.Запоріжжя Віктор Бондаренко, with whom Mr. Schubert also discussed the status of the current project as well as next steps for future cooperation in the morning.
Afterwards, schoolchildren, teachers and directors of both schools provided the visitors with many insights of their work and showed their professionalism and their enthusiasm – in other words, their energy. At the “Dzherelo” school, for instance, the school direction organized a detailed tour through many of the specialized facilities for children with disabilities and impressed Mr. Schubert with the high level of organization of the institution.
The energy teams of both schools, around 10-20 children per school mostly from 7-8 class, showed how quickly they had learned to work with the “Set of the young energy auditor”. This set they had received as a gift, like all 25 schools in Ukraine chosen to participate in the “School of Energy”. Pyrometers, anemometers, lux meters, electricity meters – all these devices are no longer strange technical devises for the schoolchildren, not at all: Within the last weeks, they have become young technical experts and now manage to conduct a pupils’ energy audits for themselves. For Mr. Schubert as EECU representative, it was very nice to testify how the “Set of the young energy auditor” thoroughly developed by EECU is now been gratefully used by students and teachers in Zaporizhzhya and the whole country.
