PRO Green Deal For Smart Cities training program to empower regional energy and climate advisors
The Green Deal Ukraine project of the Florence School of Regulation and the Kyiv School of Energy Policy has opened a call for applications for a program that aims to empower regional energy and climate advisors - or to create this role in the absence of one - through online lectures by experts from the EU and Ukraine, as well as intensive individual sessions.
Program schedule: July 15 - August 8, 2024
The program consists of:
PART I: July 15 - July 20: Ivano-Frankivsk Summer School (ONLINE)
35% In-person summer school in Ivano-Frankivsk with expert panels from EU and Ukrainian experts, including intensive individual and peer learning sessions on energy and climate policy, renewable energy policy in the EU and Ukraine, and data for local communities.
PART II: July 22 - July 25: Florence School of Regulation FSR module (ONLINE)
20% Online modules on energy transition, digitalization and new technologies, distribution networks and renewable energy, as well as energy efficiency, buildings and district heating offered by the Florence School of Regulation (FSR).
PART III: July 29 - August 8: Developing a smart city project (ONLINE)
45% Online group project with individual Ukrainian mentoring and coaching from energy experts from the Kyiv School of Energy Policy (KSEP).
Time commitment: 4-8 hours per week, with 4-5 hours of energy English courses, deep dive sessions on renewable energy and energy efficiency, and mentoring support.
Language: English (with the possibility of translation into Ukrainian). 100% Energy Conversation Clubs in English will take place throughout the program (sessions will cover the main topics of the course, focusing on the terminology needed to understand EU climate and energy policy).
Up to 25 selected candidates will receive a scholarship.
WHO can participate
- Current (or future) regional energy, climate and environment advisors in the mayor's offices of medium-sized cities in Ukraine with a population of 200,000 to 700,000 inhabitants.
- We are looking for teams of energy advisors from Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Chernivtsi, and Lviv oblasts.
- We are also looking for those who have a clear vision of why they want to participate in the program and what they plan to get out of it.
HOW to apply
An application for participation in the program must be submitted via a Google form. Materials sent by email will not be considered.
Application deadline: 23:59 on April 30, 2024 (EET).
The selection procedure will be conducted in two stages:
- The selection committee will review the candidates' applications in early May.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a 15-minute interview between May 7 and 15.
- Based on the results of the interview, candidates will be informed of the selection results by email in mid-May.
