Exhibition “The Energy Crisis in Ukraine” and online discussion “Building Capacity to Help Ukraine's Energy Supply”
Yesterday, the lobby of the Thüringer Ministerium für Umwelt, Energie und Naturschutz (Ministry of Environment, Energy and Nature Conservation of Thuringia) opened a photo exhibition “Energy Crisis in Ukraine”. EECU provided the organizers with photos of installed renewable energy sources in one of the member communities, which was made possible thanks to the assistance of the Association's team. Also, photos of the ruins of Ukrainian energy facilities after the devastating missile strikes, which EECU received at the request of DTEK.
The organizers say that the exhibition is designed for both employees and numerous visitors to the Ministry, including during the traditional weekly “open days”.
“I would like to welcome all of you to our first symposium on the energy situation in Ukraine and how we can work together to ease the coming winter with its energy poverty,” Minister Bernhard Stengele addresses the visitors of the exhibition.
In addition, the Ministry's team organized an online discussion “Building Capacity to Help Ukraine's Energy Supply”, to which representatives of Ukrainian and German NGOs, businesses, academia, and government agencies were invited. Commenting on one of the speeches, Svyatoslav Pavliuk suggested that the German side consider a scheme to transfer energy equipment that has been stored in the warehouses of individual companies for years due to their inability to compete with cheaper Chinese counterparts as part of the planned technical assistance to Ukraine. Under this approach, the German government will purchase products from domestic producers without VAT, which will reduce the total cost of the transaction and solve the problem of illiquidity of the manufactured goods.
In August, the Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Thuringia met with representatives of Ukrainian NGOs at the EECU office in Lviv. After that, Mr. Minister left Ukraine with his own vision of assistance.
