We are launching a training course for local authorities on sustainable urban mobility
To mark the European Mobility Week, which takes place from September 16 to 22, EECU is launching a training course for member communities called “Sustainable Urban Mobility”. The training course was developed by experts from the NGO “Vision Zero” within the project “Promotion of Electric Public Transport as an Element of State Policy of Ukraine”.
Representatives of local authorities of the Association's member communities can pass the training. To do this, we will send a letter of instruction to the city or village councils. The course consists of six modules:
Module 1. What is Sustainable Urban Mobility?
Module 2. Pedestrian traffic and inclusiveness.
Module 3. Public transport.
Module 4. Cycling.
Module 5. Traffic safety and human-centered road infrastructure.
Module 6. Project management, planning and implementation.
We encourage students to participate in the course forum and discuss the topics raised in it. You can also ask questions to the course developers or submit your vision of a particular topic.
To find the forum, go to the “We value your opinion” tab in Module 1 of the course, subscribe to the forum and add your own discussion topic or leave a comment on an existing one.
This and other EECU courses are available on the platform https://education.enefcities.org.ua/

About the European Mobility Week
History of creation. The tradition of its celebration was started in 1994 by political scientist Eric Britton. He was the first to propose to hold annual events aimed at reducing fuel consumption. His initiative was supported by the European Commission on Mobility and Transport, which includes representatives of the business elite from 42 countries.
Objective. European Mobility Week aims to draw public attention to the excessive number of motor vehicles whose emissions pollute the atmosphere. Each year the event is dedicated to different topics.
In addition, September 22 - Car Free Day - is especially suitable for experimenting with new traffic models and sustainable transport. Many cities use Car Free Day as an opportunity to create eco-friendly and pedestrian zones and organize various open-air events on streets and public spaces free of private cars.
