Sustainable Energy Days in the Zaporizhzhia municipality!
From 27 November to 15 December, the Zaporizhzhia community hosted online events for students of different age groups to promote energy-saving behaviour, raise awareness of the use of renewable energy sources, and draw attention to energy efficiency, environmental protection and climate change issues:
- online lessons in a game format on sustainable energy and climate development in pre-schools and secondary schools;
- interactive online games "Heat and Water Energy", "Sort the Waste", "Electricity Sources";
- watching thematic films and cartoons.
Several thematic competitions were held with more than 500 children participating, including
- a competition of children's crafts made from recycled materials on the topic of "Energy Saving of the Natural Environment" (for pupils of pre-school educational institutions);
- a competition of children's drawings or posters "Energy Saving through the Eyes of Children" (for pupils of grades 1-4);
- a video competition "Energy Saving in the Family" and "Sort the Waste" (for students in grades 5-11).
The winners of the competition were determined by online voting and jury review and were awarded themed gifts from the Association of Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine.
In addition, a Memorandum of mtual understanding and cooperation in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy was signed between the city authorities, higher education institutions and the public sector as part of the Sustainable Energy Days.
Sustainable Energy Days events in the Zaporizhzhia community have been held since 2015 and are part of the European Union's large-scale initiative on energy efficiency, environmental protection and climate change #EUSEW2023.
