Project of a heat pump installation at a hospital building in Khotyn
The project - installation of a heat pump to provide heat supply to one of the hospital buildings in Khotyn.
The goal is to reduce the consumption of traditional energy resources for heat supply.
In January 2024, the Association of Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine, in a consortium of 16 partner organizations from the Danube Region, launched the ESINERGY project. As part of the first phase of the project, it is planned to implement a pilot measure aimed at reducing the use of traditional energy by switching to a renewable source on the basis of the Khotyn Multidisciplinary Hospital of the Khotyn community in Chernivtsi region. This is the hospital's therapeutic building, which was built in 1957 and comprehensively thermally modernized in 2018. In addition, the premises of the future rehabilitation department were added to the building, bringing the total area of the building to 1.1 thousand m2.
The idea of the pilot project is to modernize the heat supply system of the therapeutic and rehabilitation building and install a heat pump with an air-water principle. It is planned to integrate the heat pump into the building's heating system so that the existing local boiler room of the institution remains an additional source of heat energy.
A heat pump and a rooftop solar power plant that will supply the necessary electricity (to be installed as a separate measure outside the ESINERGY project) are expected to significantly reduce the hospital's energy consumption and increase the institution's resilience to energy threats.
On February 14, a kick-off meeting of the project partners in Slovenia was held to set the main priorities for the next six months. In total, the project will take three years to implement, and as a result:
- the project will contribute to the energy independence of the pilot regions;
- solutions will be proposed and tested at pilot events, which stakeholders and target groups will be able to replicate in their own conditions;
- a joint strategy and action plan for the proper implementation of the EU Directive on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources in the project participating countries will be developed.
We will inform about the results and achievements of the project on the EECU communication platforms. We believe in the success of the project and the likelihood of multiplying the Khotyn case in other communities!
