Presentation of the SMARTER4EU project at the Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum
On Wednesday October 25th, the sixth Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum took place in Brussels in the form of a conference on the Energy Efficiency Financing Market. During the event, among other things, the SMARTER4EU project was presented, which the Association of Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine took part in. The presentation was made by Volodymyr Smolii, Project Manager of the Association, together with Monica Ardilianu, Project Manager of the Green Building Council of Romania, and Iva Meheim-Aire, representative of another consortium member, Habitat for Humanity International.
The event's participants were particularly interested in the ambitious goals of achieving the most practical results for Ukraine, as one of the target countries of the project. Among them is the creation of preconditions for the development of the green building sector in our country as part of the post-war recovery. This involves the introduction of a national certification system for relevant projects, as well as the development of financing instruments for such projects for both developers and the public (green mortgages).
The SMARTER4EU project presentation is available here.

At the current stage of the project implementation, partners from the Romanian Green Building Council are conducting a series of online trainings for interested national institutions, local governments and the expert community. On October 16th this year, the first of the planned at least six trainings took place. Pre-registration for the next trainings is available at this link.
The second stage of the project will involve adapting the existing certification system to the conditions of Ukraine and starting its pilot testing. To implement this component, the EECU invites interested experts and plans to work closely with national and local authorities.

The Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum - Energy Efficiency Financing Marketplace (COMIF-EEFMP) is an annual conference organised since 2018 by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy, Directorate-General for Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) in cooperation with the Covenant of Mayors initiative. The success of the COMIF-EEFMP event and its uniqueness stems from the showcase of successful initiatives for financing sustainable energy and climate change adaptation projects, presented by practitioners in a number of parallel breakout sessions. Another key element of the event is networking, which allows participants to deepen their knowledge, experience, gain new contacts and inspiration for further successful activities.
This year's event showcased successful projects funded under the LIFE programmes Clean Energy Transition and Horizon 2020, in particular the H2020 Energy Efficiency subprogramme. Projects implemented under the EIB ELENA programmes, the LIFE Climate Programme and other initiatives were also highlighted.
