Open call for financial support for communities to improve regional disaster risk management and climate adaptation plans

The European landscape of disaster risk management and climate adaptation is far from uniform. The EU Adaptation Strategy highlighted the urgent need for more ambitious efforts in climate adaptation, climate-proofing, resilience building, prevention, and preparedness. The EU Mission on Climate Adaptation has laid out an ambitious framework for local and regional transformative adaptation, aimed at preparing Europe to deal with climate disruptions, accelerating the transformation towards a climate-resilient future, and building deep resilience by scaling up actionable solutions.
Within the Mission Adaptation, CLIMAAX aims to develop a customized framework and toolbox for climate risk assessment at local and regional scales.
Successful applicants will receive:
- up to EUR 300 000 to enhance regional climate and emergency risk management plans;
- tailored technical guidance to implement region-specific methodologies;
- access to and support with the comprehensive CLIMAAX methodological framework and toolbox.
Deadline: Friday March 22, 2024, 17:00 CET.
EaP countries eligible: Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Azerbaijan.
Single applications will be will be considered:
- Public bodies (including regional authorities, municipalities, as well as public agencies) with a mandate to develop Climate-related Risk Assessments and Risk Management Plans in a given region or community.
- Non-profit legal entities representing a local/regional community of people with social ties, shared values, or interests, engaged in joint action developing their activities in areas with vulnerability to climate change impacts and challenged by climate change adaptation.
