It's official: EECU launches a new stage of implementation of the European Energy Award in Ukraine!
At the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 (Ukraine Recovery Conference #URC2024), held in Berlin on June 11-12, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine announced an agreement on a new Municipal Energy Management Certification Project to improve the energy efficiency of Ukrainian communities by adapting the European Energy Award.
Under this agreement, during next 5 years, EECU will promote the implementation of sustainable energy, mobility, and climate policies in dozens of Ukrainian communities through improved planning in these sectors and the implementation of a number of demonstration projects. The project implementation will allow for deeper integration of the Covenant of Mayors planning principles and the European Energy Award assessment and certification system. We also expect that the application of the EEA will help war-affected communities to plan their visions of the future better and more systematically.
Vasyl Shkurakov, Acting Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, said during the roundtable of the International Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine: "Cooperation with the EU at the level of communities and regions is one of the drivers of European integration."
