How often do you ride a bike instead of a car?
To mark the Sustainable Energy Days, Myrhorod City Council organised a cycling challenge in October to encourage residents to reduce car usage in the city. To attract a wider audience, the challenge was broadcast online. Participants were invited to ride a bike at a time convenient for them, film it and comment on why they chose this type of transport. Prizes were drawn among the participants and the winners were awarded.
A local media report on the bike challenge can be viewed here.
In addition, as part of the Sustainable Energy Days in the community, energy efficiency lessons were held at the Taras Shevchenko Lyceum in Myrhorod and Myrhorod Gymnasium #3. Among the topics that were spoken: the energy types and sources, the need for and ways to save energy. Active children were awarded with kits to study alternative energy sources.
Sustainable Energy Days in the Myrhorod community were held as part of the European Energy Award and the EXCITE project. Energy efficiency events have been held in Myrhorod since 2015, and since 2016, the community has been registering the event on the European Sustainable Energy Week website to attract an international audience.
