In November, the SMARTER4EU project will host 4 trainings on the latest trends in green building to support municipalities in finding innovative financing mechanisms and green building guidelines.
SMARTER Finance for EU is a continuation of the SMARTER Finance for Families project. SMARTER4EU is a two-year project that started in May this year and received funding under the European Union's LIFE Clean Energy Transition Programme under grant agreement No. 101121060.
Training dates: 14, 16, 21 and 29 November. They are organised by the Romanian Green Building Council and involve international experts for each of the proposed topics as speakers.
The trainings are conducted in English with Ukrainian translation and are aimed at organisations, municipalities and relevant public authorities working to improve housing standards for vulnerable populations.

The aim of the course is to introduce the topic of lighting, the balance between functionality and perception, natural light and fluorescent lamps, and the sustainable development of lighting systems.
The course is led by Doreen Beu, a lecturer at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, CEO of B-Lighting SRL and head of the Lighting Engineering Laboratory at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca.
Dorin Beu holds a PhD from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, with a thesis on "daylighted offices", and has won research grants from the University of Liverpool, CSTB Grenoble, the University of Barcelona and Helsinki University of Technology, where he worked on European research projects related to daylighting and lighting systems.

Topic: Sustainable Site Selection and Management
The aim of the course is to teach the importance of proper site selection for the construction and operation of green buildings. It is very important to have a clear understanding of the implications of sustainable site selection and management before the project development or even before the land purchase stage. Internationally recognised green building rating tools provide an advantage to those who select and develop building sites with regard to biodiversity, environmental impact, accessibility to public transport and other sustainable site management considerations.
The course leader, Martin Dreisaitel, President and CEO of F&R Worldwide, works with developers, community leaders, financial institutions and industry on sustainable site selection and development. He is actively involved in the Romanian, Croatian, Estonian and Montenegrin Green Building Councils, as well as in an initiative launched by the US Embassy in Romania to develop a national strategy for brownfields. He holds a degree in engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) from the University of Applied Biological Sciences in Vienna and has over 20 years of experience.
