EECU will join the process of development a national depository of GIS documentation

The creation of a national depository of GIS documentation will be one of the priorities of the project "Prevention of Loss of Key Infrastructure Documentation in Ukrainian Municipalities" in 2024. The Association "Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine" will work in cooperation with the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine. The main goal of the project is to protect information from destruction and expand access to it.

The project will be based on the experience of 59 settlements that have already created digital schemes of urban infrastructure networks and implemented GIS on their basis. The next stage of the project will be the development of a national GIS depository, in which the Ministry of Infrastructure is interested.

In cooperation with the Ministry, the project team will develop datasets of urban infrastructure networks and their descriptions to ensure that local GIS systems are fully compatible with the national database. The data will be defined as part of the proposals to the Law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on the Settlement of Certain Issues of Connection to Utility Networks" and amendments to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 220 of 4 March 2023 "On Approval of the State Anti-Corruption Programme for 2023-2025".

The project is implemented with financial support from Switzerland and will last until 31 March 2024.
