About the Covenant of Mayors
Why is it worth joining the Covenant of Mayors?
- First of all, it is a tool that allows to improve the environmental situation and increase energy security;
- An opportunity to create new jobs by attracting investment;
- An opportunity to use various mechanisms of technical and financial support;
- An opportunity to apply the best practices of other Covenant members or share their own experience with other cities;
- Finally, to improve the quality of life of residents and make cities attractive places to live.
What tasks do the Covenant of Mayors signatories undertake to perform?
- Prepare a Baseline Emissions Inventory and conduct a Climate Change Risk and Vulnerability Assessment;
- Develop and submit a Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (Action Plan) within two years of the above date of the city council's decision, integrate climate change mitigation and adaptation ideas into relevant policies, strategies and plans;
- Implement the measures envisaged in the Action Plan and submit regular reports on its implementation for the purpose of its evaluation, monitoring and verification;
- Share our vision, results achieved, best practices and experiences with other local and regional authorities within and outside the EU, through direct cooperation and peer-to-peer interaction.
